The immensely friendly Hackney born Dalton Grant, is one of Great Britain’s finest high jumpers. Dalton competed at the Seoul, Barcelona and Atlanta Olympic Games. He is a European Championships and Commonwealth Games Gold medalist, and in 2008 Dalton equalled the world veteran record at Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.
His personal best jump was 2.36 metres, achieved at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo. He has a personal indoor best of 2.37 metres.
Likeable and hugely talented, Dalton set nine successive national records between 1988 and 1991, becoming the first Briton to be ranked in the world’s top 10 since Alan Paterson in 1950. Having narrowly missed a medal at the Seoul Olympics, he earned his greatest success a decade later taking the Commonwealth title in Kuala Lumpur and earning a European outdoor silver medal to add to the European indoor golds he had won in 1994.
A London 2012 Ambassador and from East End of London, Dalton is hugely excited about the positive changes that Olympics will bring about, not just in London, but beyond.
