Nikita Thakrar is a British born Indian dance artist, teacher and NLP master practitioner with an entrepreneurial ambition to inspire others through her own learning and experiences.
From an early age, Nikita’s curious nature led her to question the world around her and gain an insightful understanding into human nature and life. Having barely left school, at the tender age of 18, Nikita began her spiritual journey, following a passion for a rare form of Indian dance and a ‘calling’ which took her to her sacred home land of India. Nikita spent a gruelling two years tirelessly working to save up for her frequent, self-funded trips to India training, turning her mind inwards, exploring and discovering herself. It was during this reflective period that Nikita realised she was no normal girl of her age. She was on Earth for a reason, and her life’s mission from this point onwards would be to inspire the next generation and fulfil her purpose of existence.
Nikita’s Guru and mentor ‘Shila Mehta’ in Mumbai a renowned Indian dancer herself, played a great role in training Nikita in the classical art form of Kathak, which she believes moulded her into the cultured individual she is today. It was through her that she gained confidence to take dance as more than just a hobby and to pursue her passion for the art form despite cultural restrictions.
In 2005, Nikita took the initiative step of starting the “Dancing Nikita Company”, an Indian dance company practicing and delivering classical Indian Kathak dance. Her aim; to develop a systematic training programme for the next generation to learn and study culture through Indian dance. In 2007, Nikita toured Australia performing and in 2008 was recognised as one of the UK’s youngest entrepreneurial women by AWA [Asian Woman of Achievement award].
In 2009, Nikita qualified as a Hatha Yoga instructor under the institution of Swami Sivananda, the “world’s leading Yoga master of the 20th century”.
In 2010, Nikita conceived and choreographed her own dance production titled “Reflections of India” which she toured across the UK. In 2011, Nikita launched her own dance studio, to act as a base for her dance training, to empower the next generation through her teachings.
In 2012, Nikita became a ‘Neuro Linguistic Programming’ practitioner and developed the world’s first self-development programme combining Yoga, Indian dance, spirituality & NLP.
Nikita is also a published poet, accomplished writer and an NLP trained life coach. In her spare time she enjoys going to the theatre and reading motivational books and attending personality development events. She is currently writing an auto biography based on her life story with plans to publish it in the coming years. Nikita’s passion is to share her experiences to inspire others, through talks and publically speaking at cultural events, career’s fairs, seminars and at spiritual gatherings.
