Linford Christie’s impressive title collection includes an Olympic, a World Championship, three European, three Commonwealth, ten European Cup and four World Cup medals. Linford was the first man to retain the World Cup 100m title and in 1997 won a record 7th European Cup title. From 1995 to 1997 he was the inspirational captain of the men’s British Athletic team and is the only European to have run under 10 seconds.Linford publicly announced his retirement from the track after the World Championships in Athens 1997. However he was ‘forced’ back into the track during the indoor season of 1999 where he set the fastest time that year over 60m.Off the track, Linford is probably more busy than ever before. He is coaching a small team of Athletes, some already established within the sport and some who he believes have a great future ahead of them. Linford’s inspirational coaching and methods have been hailed by UK Athletics and the media.
