A Perrier Award winning stand-up comedian, Jenny Éclair has performed many successful one-woman shows at the Edinburgh Festival since 1992 when she first took the stage with the play, ‘Mummy’s Little Girl’. She became the only woman to win Edinburgh’s prestigious comedy award for her 1995 show ‘Prozac and Tantrums’. Jenny has appeared on television in a broad range of programmes from short comic sketches for ‘Richard and Judy’ (Channel 4) to her own shows on Channel 5: ‘Jenny Éclair’s Private Function’ and ‘The Platinum Collection’. She also performed in ‘A Packet of Three’ with Frank Skinner and she has hosted the ‘Perrier Awards’ and ‘Edinburgh or Bust’ during the festival (all for Channel 4).
Jenny has extensive credits on radio too: she has written several successful sitcoms (with Julie Balloo) and appeared on Radio 4’s panel show, ‘Just a Minute’. Jenny was the first woman to guest-edit the lad’s magazine ‘Loaded’ and she has published a novel ‘Camberwell Beauty’.
Other successful one-woman shows in Edinburgh include: ‘Vague’ (1993); ‘Bad Behaviour’ (1994); ‘Wig On, Teeth In’ (1996) and ‘Middle Aged Bimbo’ (2001). Jenny’s ‘Top Bitch’ video of her Perrier Award winning Edinburgh show was a big success in the video charts, followed by ‘The Big Snog Stand-up Video with Eddie Izzard and Steve Coogan.
Her 2004 one-woman show ‘The Andy Wharhol Syndrome’ is about an ex Reality TV star and the desire for fame. Jenny’s very individual style of comedy is guaranteed to entertain.
