Room54 Cycle India Challenge!

Where:India
14th November, 2010
4 days covering 400km in aid of Williams Fund Charity

This exciting charity challenge took us thorugh the tribal trails and royal pathways through India's colourful "Land of the Kings" - Rajasthan.

The adventure took us through some of the best hill and desert landscapes that Rajasthan has to offer. We covered a total distance of 400km over 6 consecutive days in the saddle through this fascinating region of India.

Day 1 - The adventure begins, we left the UK on our overnight flight to Delhi.

Day 2 - We were met at the airport and taken by coach directly to the Midway Hotel, Behror, a 2½ hour drive.

Day 3 - This morning we got given our bikes and set off on our challenge, Jhunjhunu: Cycling distance - 45km

Day 4 - Today we cycled from Jhunjhunu to Mahansar, 45km

Day 5 - Our cycling today took us through stunning desert landscapes to Nawalgarh, we stopped in Mandawa: a  challenging 60 km, glad we did the training!

Day 6 - We push on, cycling to Danta through classic Rajasthani villages, well away from the established tourist routes - an area of stunning desert landscapes, dotted with villages of vibrant colour - a complete contrast to the world-renowned sights of Delhi.  Today we did a massive 85km

Day 7 - Today we did 75km to Sambhar Salt Lake, approached through the Aravalli Hills

Day 8 - Following breakfast, we headed off for the last time and cycled to Pachewar: Cycling distance - 85km

Day 9 - We'll took a quick look at Amber Fort, one of the most impressive sights in Rajasthan, as we passed by on our way to Agra, a 5 hour drive away.

Day 10 - We enjoyed a restful few hours free time in Delhi before transferring to Delhi airport for our flights home.

A fantastic experience we will never forget, especially sleeping in tents when the temperature dropped to 5 degrees!
